How to Manage Notifications, Settings, Profile, and Test Mode in Stripe

Below is a structured guide to help you navigate these essential features in your Stripe account.

1. Managing Notifications

Stripe sends email and dashboard notifications for various events like successful payments, failed transactions, and disputes.

How to Access Notification Settings:

  1. Log into your Stripe account at https://dashboard.stripe.com.
  2. Click on the profile icon (top-right corner).
  3. Select “Profile” from the dropdown menu.
  4. Scroll down to “Notifications”.
  5. Here, you can enable or disable different types of email alerts:
    • Payout updates
    • Payment failures
    • Dispute alerts
    • Security notifications
  6. To change notification preferences, toggle the switch on/off next to each category.

Tip: You can also configure webhook notifications if you use Stripe with an external platform.

2. Accessing and Adjusting Account Settings

The Settings section allows you to configure your account preferences, payment options, and security settings.

How to Access and Modify Settings:

  1. Click on “Settings” (⚙️) in the left menu.
  2. You will find different categories, including:
    • Business details – Company name, industry, website.
    • Payments settings – Accepted payment methods, fraud protection.
    • Payouts and bank accounts – Change or add bank accounts.
    • Security settings – Enable two-factor authentication.
  3. Click on any section to edit details, then click “Save” after making changes.

Tip: If you’re an admin, you can also manage team member access under Settings → Team members.

3. Editing Your Profile

Your Profile contains personal details like your name, email, and contact preferences.

How to Edit Your Profile:

  1. Click on your profile icon (top-right corner).
  2. Select “Profile”.
  3. Here, you can update:
    • Name
    • Email address
    • Phone number
    • Preferred language
  4. Click “Save changes” after updating your details.

Tip: If you change your email address, Stripe will send a confirmation email to verify it.

4. Enabling and Disabling Test Mode

Test Mode allows you to simulate transactions without processing real payments. This is useful for testing integrations and troubleshooting payment flows.

How to Enable Test Mode:

  1. Log into your Stripe Dashboard.
  2. In the left menu, toggle the switch labeled “View test data” (above the menu options).
  3. When enabled, the dashboard will show test transactions and test API keys.

How to Disable Test Mode:

  1. Click the “View test data” toggle again.
  2. You will return to live mode, where real transactions are processed.

Tip: When in Test Mode, use Stripe’s test card numbers for payments (e.g., 4242 4242 4242 4242 for a successful test transaction). (The card’s expiration date and CVC in Test Mode can be any values, but the expiration date must be in the future.)

Now you have full control over notifications, settings, profile details, and test mode in Stripe!
