Managing Multiple Accounts in Stripe
1. How to Edit the Name of Your Stripe Account
By default, Stripe assigns your account a name based on your business information. You can change the account name for better organization.
Steps to Edit Your Account Name:
- Log into your Stripe account at https://dashboard.stripe.com.
- In the top-left corner, click on the account name (next to the Stripe logo).
- Click “Settings” at the bottom of the dropdown menu.
- Under “Business settings”, click “Account details”.
- In the “Account name” field, enter the new name.
- Click “Save” to apply the changes.
✅ Note: The account name is only for internal organization in your Stripe dashboard. It does not change your business legal name or affect transactions.
2. How to Add a New Stripe Account
Stripe allows users to create multiple accounts under one login for different businesses or projects.
Steps to Create a New Account:
- Log into your Stripe account.
- In the top-left corner, click on your current account name.
- Click “New account” at the bottom of the dropdown menu.
- Enter a name for the new account (this can be changed later).
- Click “Create”.
- Your new account will appear in the list, and you will be redirected to its dashboard.
✅ Each Stripe account operates independently, meaning:
- Each account has separate balances, API keys, and business details.
- You must activate each new account separately by entering business and banking details.
- Payments and transactions do not transfer between accounts.
3. How to Switch Between Stripe Accounts
If you have multiple accounts under one login, you can easily switch between them.
Steps to Switch Between Accounts:
- Log into Stripe.
- In the top-left corner, click your current account name.
- A dropdown menu will appear, showing all accounts linked to your login.
- Click on the account you want to switch to.
- The dashboard will reload, displaying data for the selected account.
✅ Tip: If you manage multiple businesses, rename accounts to easily distinguish them (see Step 1).
