How to Use Key Features in Stripe
1. Reports Overview
The Reports section in Stripe provides a summary of your financial activity, helping you track sales, refunds, fees, and payouts.
How to Access Reports:
- Log into your Stripe account at https://dashboard.stripe.com.
- In the left menu, click “Reports”.
- You’ll see different report types:
- Financial Reports – Summary of earnings, fees, and payouts.
- Balance Reports – Details on available and pending balances.
- Payout Reports – Breakdown of payouts sent to your bank.
- Click on any report type to view details or download data as a CSV file.
✅ Tip: Use filters (date, currency, transaction type) to get more specific data.
2. Payments
The Payments section allows you to track transactions, process refunds, and check payment statuses.
How to View Payments:
- Go to Stripe Dashboard.
- Click “Payments” in the left menu.
- You will see a list of transactions with details such as:
- Amount
- Payment method (card, bank transfer, etc.)
- Status (Succeeded, Failed, Refunded, etc.)
- Customer details
How to Process a Refund:
- Find the payment you want to refund.
- Click on the transaction.
- Click “Refund” at the top right.
- Choose Full refund or enter a custom amount for a Partial refund.
- Click “Refund payment” to complete the process.
✅ Tip: Refunds usually take 5–10 business days to process.
3. Balances
The Balances section shows your current Stripe balance, including funds available for payout and pending transactions.
How to Check Your Balance:
- Click “Balances” in the left menu.
- You will see:
- Available balance – Money ready to be paid out.
- Pending balance – Payments still being processed.
- Payouts in transit – Money sent to your bank but not yet received.
How to Transfer Funds to Your Bank:
- Go to “Balances” → “Payouts”.
- Click “Pay out funds”.
- Enter the amount and select your bank account.
- Click “Submit” to transfer the funds.
✅ Tip: Payouts typically take 1–3 business days, depending on your country and bank.
4. Customers
The Customers section stores customer details, including payment history, saved payment methods, and subscriptions.
How to View and Manage Customers:
- Click “Customers” in the left menu.
- You will see a list of customers with:
- Name
- Payment history
- Saved payment methods
- Click on a customer’s name to view full details.
How to Add a New Customer:
- Click “Add customer” in the top right.
- Enter their name, email, and description.
- Click “Save customer”.
✅ Tip: If a customer frequently makes payments, you can save their payment method for future transactions.
